Essentially a BUG (Bicycle User Group) is a community-based riding club, established by people who ride bikes and want to do more for bike riding at a local level. BUGs vary in size from as few as 3 members to some with over 100, and depending on the specific interests of the people involved the focus might vary between different clubs including social rides and advocacy.
