Windsor get a cycling bridge

DOUG BATTERSBY HVBUG

23 June 2009

The RTA's $3 million cycling bridge across South Creek into Windsor was opened to traffic on Friday 12 June.

The Wianamatta Bridge was opened jointly by Roads Minister Michael Daly and the member for Riverstone John Aquilina.

Wianamatta is the Aboriginal name of South Creek. Local cyclists and triathlon clubs had unsuccessfully lobbied the Minister to have the bridge named after local resident and Panthers tri club member David Morris killed on the M7 this year.

Nevertheless it is a fantastic bridge after years of crossing the adjacent road bridge with it's Kamikaze one metre wide scary path.
