Killibilli Markets are held on the second Saturday and fourth Sunday of each month in the vicinity of the base of the 55 Steps at the northern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge cycleway. Representatives form BikeNorth and the North Shore Bicycle Group have met with the local council and Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre to explain the importance of cyclist access to the SHB cycleway, this being the only cross-harbour facility available for many kilometers. As a result, rideable access will be provided between Alfred St, Burton St and the base of the 55 steps. In the Burton St tunnel, a large number of people stop to look at the many stalls, particularly in inclement weather, so bike access will be restricted here and cyclists will need to walk their bikes. Pavements markings (bike logos) and signage will be introduced in the next month or two, so until then please work with everyone so the market days are enjoyed by all.
