Poidevin pedal raises crossbar

The 2009 Pengana Goulburn to Citi Cycle Classic to be held on September the 20th will include 120 riders taking part in the Simon Poidevin lead Corporate Charity Challenge.

This years corporate charity ride will again be hosted by Race Ambassador Simon Poidevin, who established the Charity ride as part of the “Goulburn” four years ago .

To date the ride has raised $500,000 supporting principal charity Odyssey House,The Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation, Goulburns’ St John of God Palliative care and Oncology support unit ,Starlight, Bear Cottage and MS Research Australia.

Members of corporate Australia have accepted the challenge set by Simon to lift the fundraising crossbar, aiming to raise upwards of $200,000, which will take the total to over $700,000 since the charity events inception in 2005.

“This year we hope to raise upwards of $200,000. I find this an extremely satisfying part of being the race ambassador”. Poidevin said.

The teams joining naming sponsor Citi, include, The Campbelltown Catholic Club, Macquarie Bank, The One Degree Team, Albion Cycles, Bicycle NSW, The Greengrocer, Peloton Sports The Amy Gillett and Ben Mikic Foundations. This year, charity riders will be joined by two of Australia’s recognized greats in cycling, six times Tour de France cyclist Stephen Hodge and Quadruple World Champion and Olympian Stephen Wooldridge.

“Cycling has been my job, and it’s a privilege to join Simon giving back to society in this way”. Stephen Hodge said.

This years Corporate Charity ride will commence in Goulburn at 5.50am and travel up the Hume Highway through Mittagong, Bargo, Tahmoor, Picton, Razorback and finish in the historic town of Camden at 11.00am. The official 2009 Pengana Goulburn to Citi Cycle Classic race will start in Goulburn at 7.45am.
