350 Points Bicycle Rally Slowdown

BRENDA BAILEY MASSBUG*

15 September 2009

Why 350? Scientists say that 350 parts per million CO2 in the atmosphere is the safe limit for humanity. This is part of an international day of creative actions promoting the lowering of carbon dioxide to a safe level. (more info at http://www.350.org/)

On Sunday 25 October 2009, MASSBUG is organising a rally which takes you to several environmental hot spots. Register 9.30 to 10 am.

At the start riders pick up a map and question form. Each stop has a simple question to complete.

It starts at the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, King and ends at the Community Centre, Addison Road Marrickville. A short but fun ride of 7ks. Most of the route is on road without bike lanes, some in high traffic areas.

There are modest prizes for two teams or individuals. One will be the first to register their arrival at midday and get 350 points for the questions. The second will be the team or individual who registers at 1pm and get 350 points to the questions. Call 9565 1657 or go to the massbug website for more
