2009 AGM Report

This was the first time the AGM was held on a weekday evening and the general agreement was that this is the way the go.

The 'other' first is the use of an on-line voting system for electing office bearers. This process went smoothly with over 80 ballots cast this way. Given the success, convenience and security of on-line ballots this option is likely to be available at future AGMs.

Well done to the Bicycle NSW team for making this happen.

The minutes and voting results from the AGM will be available on the Bicycle NSW website from 23rd November but we thought we'd give you a potted summary.

The 4 members elected to the Board at the AGM are Jenny Burn, Richard Birdsey, Christina Harlamb and John Richardson. Board members John Cooper, David McGrath and Ken Price have another year of their terms to run.

All 3 special resolutions (see the 2009 AGM meeting agenda and supporting papers for details) were passed.

Thanks was given to the 3 retiring Board members Greg Krix, Caroline Pidcock and Michael Frankel for their dedication and hard work in Board service for Bicycle NSW. Thanks to all the members who attended the meeting. Their questions, feedback and comments were invaluable. Thanks also to Bicycle NSW staff in attendance at the meeting and for the organizing of the premises and support of the Returning Officer in delivering the required voting process at the meeting.

First meeting of the New Board

Immediately following the AGM the new Board met for the first time and a number of decisions were made as follows:

* Anthony Drury and Jon Leighton were appointed by the elected Board members to fill the remaining two Board positions.

* Office Bearers elected by the new Board were largely unchanged from 2008/09. Jenny Burn - President; Richard Birdsey - Vice President; and Alex Unwin - Board Secretary on a temporary basis pending Board appointment of a permanent secretary.

* Graeme Edwards remains the BUGs Council Chair

* Greg Krix will replace Alex Unwin on the Bicycle NSW Environmental Trust Management Committee, which is now comprised of Greg Krix, Geoff Martin and Hilary Wise.

* Incoming Board member Anthony Drury has generously stepped into a role on the Audit and Risk Committee, which is now comprised of Anthony Drury, Jenny Burn and John Cooper as Convenor

* The Board Renewal/CEO Performance Committee was officially created and members are Jenny Burn and Jon Leighton

* The 2010 AGM date was scheduled: Wednesday 10 November 2010 at 6pm - so please put this into your diaries. Location: TBC.
