Woollahra Council has completed great work to gain quiet back-street access to Edgecliff Station for local bike riders wishing to shop or commute and connect up with the Eastern Suburbs trains to the City and beyond along the Cronulla line.
The bike route connects cyclists of Woollahra plateau and Paddington, with the southern side of Edgecliff Station and shopping centre via Jersey Road, Thorne and Cameron Streets across McLean Street. Very good kerb crossing and refuge arrangements have been provided (see bike and cart waiting for its owner to cross McLean St and go shopping!).
Car traffic is moderate along Jersey Road. However, an agreed priority is to proceed with up-grading markings along Jersey Road and introducing signage and new markings to connect the Edgecliff Road bike lanes via Trelawney Street for people of Edgecliff and Bondi Junction to use.
Also, this work, once completed, will then afford much safer riding into the Paddington Gate of Centennial Parklands via Jersey Road, Halls Lane and Queen Street cycle lanes.
By the way - Woollahra Council has final proofs of its Bike Map. BIKEast expects the maps being released during Bike Week. Directional signs are made and ready to install along the Bondi Junction to Darlinghurst commuter route through Paddington. These signs are expected to be mounted before Bike Week, as well. Look for them!
